WATCH Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz score beautiful goals to seal Chelsea victory over RB Salzburg.

MATCH REPORT: RB Salzburg 1-2 Chelsea: Goals from Mateo Kovacic in the first half and Kai Havertz in the second.
The Blues returned to Champions League action after a draw last week against the Red Devils and were looking to seal their spot in the Champions League round of 16.

The result, a 2-1 win, is enough to book our passage from Group E with a game to spare although we were made to work hard for the victory by a gallant Salzburg side.

Goals in either half from Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz were enough to see us past Salazburg, who had levelled shortly after half-time through Junior Adamu.

In truth, both sides could have scored more but each goalkeeper – Kepa Arrizabalaga and in particular Philipp Kohn – both produced a number of impressive stops.

Both Chelsea goals were strikes right out of the top drawer. Kovacic, born 75 miles east to Salzburg in Linz, found the top corner with an instinctive left-footed drive that left Kohn with no chance to get us up and running.

While Adamu poked past Kepa to draw the hosts level, it was a moment of sheer quality from Havertz that won this game.

Both goals scored from Kovacic and Havertz were extreme beauties and you can catch all of them here.

CONFIRMED: Todd Boehly finally decides on FIVE players who will be leaving Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Todd Boehly has decided he will offload five Chelsea players.  Since taking over as Co-owner of Chelsea, it has not clicked for Todd Boehly despite splashing the cash to sign some of the big names in world football.  Consecutive run of losses and sloppy display from players are two core reasons the Blues will be considering a squad overhaul this summer, and five players will be offloaded. According to a report from the Spanish publication SPORT, it is claimed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are being lined up for sale which could raise a whopping £129 million. If the market values of the players in question are met, it would provide the incoming Chelsea manager with a hefty transfer chest to spend and bring in a couple of new faces to bolster the squad over the summer.

Lots of players are yet to be assigned squad numbers. Chelsea have got a lot of numbers to hand out. If there is any club where squad numbers could be a bit of a mystery at the moment, it's Chelsea. After the huge influx of purchases last summer and in January 2023, the opposite has happened in the summer of 2023. Loads of senior players have been sold by Chelsea as they look to trim the wage bill and general squad size, partly for Financial Fair Play but also for sporting reasons. There were simply too many of them last season and they are still selling actively. It has not all been sales, as some players have come through the door at Chelsea, so there could be loads of different squad numbers compared to last season.
