NOT GOOD ENOUGH: Graham Potter tells his struggling Chelsea stars to start ‘running through brick walls’ as he tears into flops after lacklustre Forest draw.
Graham Potter has told his struggling Chelsea players to start 'running through brick walls' like their opponents following Sunday's draw at City Road. The Blues returned to Premier League action for their opening game of the year against Nottingham Forest. A goal from Raheem Sterling in the first half gave Chelsea the lead before a tidy Serge Aurier finish made the game end in a tie.
The Blues put in a noticably sloppy display all round, and while Chelsea fans have called for Graham Potter's head, the Blues' Coach has blamed the lacklustre performance on struggling Chelsea stars.
Speaking to the media after the clash, Potter claimed his boys were not good enough and urged them to do better:
“Our level wasn’t good enough, we didn’t move fast enough.
“It would have been unfair if we had taken more than a point.
“They make teams suffer and we had to suffer.
“On one hand, you have players asking if they can have the players’ shirts.
“On the other, they are thinking, ‘I am going to run through a brick wall here to prove I am good enough to beat, or play for, Chelsea’.
“We have to be humble enough to know that is the challenge we face and we have to do better.”
