Pep Guardiola reacts to Frank Lampard re-appointment as Chelsea Coach; reveals private chat he had with him before taking up Chelsea job.

Pep Guardiola has reacted to Frank Lampard's re-appointment as Chelsea Coach while revealing he had messaged him while he was at Everton.

Manchester City Manager, Pep Guardiola has reacted to Frank Lampard's re-appointment as Chelsea Manager. The Chelsea Legend was appointed as interim caretaker to replace the recently sacked Graham Potter, and interim Head coach, Bruno Saltor until the end of the season.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of City vs Southampton, Pep gave his honest verdict on Lampard's return to a poorly performing Chelsea; while re-iterating he had kept in touch with him while at Everton:

"It is good to see him back, it’s a new opportunity at the club he loves and a new challenge for him. In this country when I was younger it always had the tradition to keep the managers.

"What happens today with a lot of pressure for everyone, a lot of investment, in a way I understand there’s a lot of pressure. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It is what it is, you have to adapt.

"We were in touch when he was at Everton."

Chelsea's start to life under Frank Lampard however, has been short of what was expected. The Blues lost 1-0 to Wolves on Saturday, in what was his first game in charge.

They face Real Madrid on Wednesday, and it remains to be seen how the Blues will turn things around against an in-form Los Blancos side.

The revered Portuguese coach was furious with the medics, telling reporters afterwards: “I wasn’t happy with my medical staff because even if you are a medical doctor or secretary on the bench, you have to understand the game.” Mourinho felt that the medical intervention had affected his team’s chances of scoring a late winner and securing two more points.
