Pep Guardiola reacts to Frank Lampard re-appointment as Chelsea Coach; reveals private chat he had with him before taking up Chelsea job.

Pep Guardiola has reacted to Frank Lampard's re-appointment as Chelsea Coach while revealing he had messaged him while he was at Everton.

Manchester City Manager, Pep Guardiola has reacted to Frank Lampard's re-appointment as Chelsea Manager. The Chelsea Legend was appointed as interim caretaker to replace the recently sacked Graham Potter, and interim Head coach, Bruno Saltor until the end of the season.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of City vs Southampton, Pep gave his honest verdict on Lampard's return to a poorly performing Chelsea; while re-iterating he had kept in touch with him while at Everton:

"It is good to see him back, it’s a new opportunity at the club he loves and a new challenge for him. In this country when I was younger it always had the tradition to keep the managers.

"What happens today with a lot of pressure for everyone, a lot of investment, in a way I understand there’s a lot of pressure. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It is what it is, you have to adapt.

"We were in touch when he was at Everton."

Chelsea's start to life under Frank Lampard however, has been short of what was expected. The Blues lost 1-0 to Wolves on Saturday, in what was his first game in charge.

They face Real Madrid on Wednesday, and it remains to be seen how the Blues will turn things around against an in-form Los Blancos side.

CONFIRMED: Todd Boehly finally decides on FIVE players who will be leaving Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Todd Boehly has decided he will offload five Chelsea players.  Since taking over as Co-owner of Chelsea, it has not clicked for Todd Boehly despite splashing the cash to sign some of the big names in world football.  Consecutive run of losses and sloppy display from players are two core reasons the Blues will be considering a squad overhaul this summer, and five players will be offloaded. According to a report from the Spanish publication SPORT, it is claimed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are being lined up for sale which could raise a whopping £129 million. If the market values of the players in question are met, it would provide the incoming Chelsea manager with a hefty transfer chest to spend and bring in a couple of new faces to bolster the squad over the summer.

He shared his delight at the decision made by the club, simultaneously congratulating the 23-year-old on what is no doubt a huge honour. Given the fact that Terry held down the position of captain for over a decade at Stamford Bridge, his opinion on who has the armband is more important than most on the situation. There was a decision to be made by Mauricio Pochettino on who would be named the leader of Chelsea for the coming seasons after a number of the senior players departed the club this year. Cesar Azpilicueta has moved to Atletico Madrid, whilst they have also recently said goodbye to Jorginho, N’golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic. Because of this, the England international was selected for the role, with Ben Chilwell handed the responsibility of vice-captain. Plen...
